Plant Thingy Protectors

Plant Thingy protectors are designed to be tough, sturdy, expandable, and very convenient with a hinged top. We produce (2) diameters 18" and 24" and (2) heights 23" and 35". We also provide a height extension option that will add another 23". They are constructed from 1" square mesh using 14-gauge galvanized welded steel wire, dipped in black vinyl to offer years of durability even in challenging conditions. The 14 gauge steel wire is 30% larger in diameter than 16 gauge, they possess an industrial aesthetic and definitely do not feel flimsy.
Assembly is required using the included UV sunlight-resistant zip ties and hook/loop strap and buckle. These zip ties are claimed to last over 5 years (I suppose we'll see about that). Please view the video and assembly instructions that are included in the photo section.
Plant Thingy protectors are effective at keeping away birds, rabbits, squirrels, deer, javelina, and many other pests that want to feast on your plants. These protectors also provide an excellent structure for adding summer sun cover and insulation (like bags or sheets) during winter. If you’re worried about animals tipping them over, you can add a few tent pegs to the bottom (not included).
The initial designs didn't feature a hinged top (unfortunately). As our roses bloomed, we had to remove the protectors continually, prompting a redesign. The hinged top is quite convenient, with one half secured using zip ties and the other half secured with a hook & loop with a buckle. The back of the top locks under the upper wire, while the front rests compactly on top.
